About Justin Barker

Justin Barker, 29, has a solid and successful history as a media producer and social advocate. Justin has a keen interest in world travel, environmental protection, wildlife, diverse cultures and exploring new ideas.

While Justin always keeps up with the latest media production advances, his passion is the people behind productions. Finding and motivating talented crew members. Keeping clients delighted. Making contributors feel welcomed and comfortable on camera. His favorite thing? Conducting candid interviews that allow character to emerge.

A self proclaimed internationalist, Justin has lived and worked in Costa Rica, England, USA and Australia. He has traveled throughout Europe, Central America, Asia and the Pacific.

When he is not working, Justin enjoys hiking, camping, participating in couchsurfing.com and cooking vegetarian food.

Justin travelled around the world directing a series of videos for CouchSurfing.org

2009 - Melb, Australia

Justin spent 4 months travelling all over Australia as 2nd Unit Director for Australia Poker Hero. He directed 50 short films about the shows contestants.

2008 - San Francisco

Works as a Staff Editor for CNE Media and studies over 100 hours of post-production at Bay Area Video Coalition

2007 - San Francisco

Works as Associate Producer for American Dream, a documentary about the American Dream and over consumption in the USA

2006 - San Francisco

Moves to San Francisco and started his freelance production business

2004 - San Francisco

Produces and reports the California recall election for KMTP TV.

2004 - Eugene, Oregon

Establishes the statewide office of The New Voters Project in Oregon. He managed a staff of over 30 and his office registered over 16,500 new young voters

2003 - Sydney, Australia

Graduates from UTS with BA Communications, Media Arts and Production

2002 - Sydney, Australia

Relocates to Sydney, Australia to study at University of Technology, Sydney

2001 - London, England

Starts internship at CBS NEWS

2000 - London, England

Moves to London to study communication at Richmond.

The Roseville Bear Relocation Project Raises over $250,000 and the two bears are relocated.

Relocates to Costa Rica to study and work as an enrichment keeper at Zoo Ave Animal Sanctuary

Local and National news begins covering the Roseville Bear Relocation Project.

Launches the Roseville Bear Relocation Project to relocate two aging bears from a small cage in a city park.

1995 - Sacramento, Ca

Launches Citizens Lobbying for Animals in Zoos and begins campaigning for animals in the Sacramento Zoo, successfully persuading AZA to revoke the zoo's accreditation.
